"At sea"
My dearest mum,
Just a line before tea to let you know I am quite well again.
I have an idea you will get my other letter the same time as this. I don't think the mail has left the ship yet.
This will be a rowdy tea I think (more so than usual) for the ship is rowling (sic) like a cork and all the things start sliding along the table to the cheers of the men. A favourite song here before a meal is something like this
Starving! Starving! Starving,
Always bally well starving,
When your (sic) dead and in your grave,
You'll bally well starve no more.
Not bad eh! My pen is starving too evidently. I have no time for anymore mother dear, I thought you might worry if you did not hear about my sea sickness.
Give my love to all and a kiss for Ronnie.
I am your loving son
Billy
