My darling mother
Only a word dear to tell you not to worry if you don't hear from me for a mail. Understand why no doubt. Arthur Cooper has been wounded and I have to take his job as Signal Officer, he was hit in the leg but not seriously, would not mind a small one myself, would go and keep him company in Blighty.
Received quite a lot of letters today on my return from the Bombing School, a treat. No more tonight dear. Kindly tell the others why no mail will arrive will you. I am dead tired, walked all last night looking for the battalion, up at daybreak in the morning moving up further.
Best of love to all and don't worry your dear hearts too much. I'm alright, my luck is good.
