My dearest Mother
Just a note to tell you that I am posting 9 photographs for you tonight. Hope you get them O.K. They are not good ones as you'll see. I say please give one of these or one of the others if you have any left to Elsie Thomson, she has sent me a photo of herself and wants one of me. She has been very very kind in writing regularly, so please see that she gets one of the photos. Needless to say don't forget Una!! (If she wants one!)
Fancy dear this old war is over and yours himself is as fit as a fiddle. I wrote to Roy and asked him to cable we were both well, now all your worrying can cease for it is thought that the Colonials will be the first to leave for home - only general talk amongst us all so of course you can stake nothing on it.
[Page 2]
Anyrate the main thing is as long as we come home, isn't it? I hope I am able to get to England again to say goodbye to all my friends, and I wouldn't mind a few days in Paris, but pay book has to be studied. I should think so!!
Well my dear mother I must stop now. I leave this school tomorrow and rejoin my battalion. I wonder will they reform the 19th as they promised. Let's hope so.
So long
Ever your loving Son
